“My family pretends nothing is wrong”
What could be going on
Whole team sees the problem, nobody says it: Fits if everyone privately knows the problem but no one names it out loud.
Collusion: Could be a shared unspoken pact to avoid the same fear; check what would happen if someone spoke.
Denial: Fits if the facts themselves are refused, not just left undiscussed.
Family roles (golden child, scapegoat, lost child, mascot): Check whether one person carries the trouble so the rest can look fine.
Emotional inhibition schema: Could be a family rule that feelings and conflict are dangerous or shameful to show.
Questions to carry
- At the last family gathering, which subject did everyone step around, and who changed the subject?
- What stops me when I want to say it out loud, and who would I lose?
